Eating ginger can also help against nausea, muscle pain, joint paint and degenerative diseases.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that has been used for thousands of years all over the world for both cooking and medicinal uses. It contains a substance called curcuminoids, which also gives turmeric its strong yellow color.

Curcuminoids are very good for our health and can prevent several diseases. They have strong antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which boosts our immune system and help fight ongoing infections!
But our bodies are not that good in absorbing curcuminoids, which is why it is important to eat it together with black pepper. Doing that can increase the absorption of curcuminoids by 2000%!

Lemon

Lemon is a great source of antioxidants and vitamin C which for sure are immune system boosters! Also vitamin C helps the body with the absorption of iron, which is an important mineral for several body functions. Lemons also contain potassium and vitamin B6, which are beneficial for heart health and brain function. Studies have also shown that lemon can help preventing kidney stones because the citric acid in the lemons helps to excrete excess citrate from the body through urine.

Black Pepper

Black pepper is often referred to as ”The king of spices”. It contains a substance called piperine, which is the main substance in black pepper. Piperine is an anti-oxidant and also works anti-inflammatory. It is also piperine that enhances the absorption of other various compounds, like curcuminiods in turmeric! That is why it is essential to have black pepper as an ingredient in this homemade ginger shot.
Eating black pepper can furthermore promotes digestion by increasing the activity of digestive enzymes.

Chili Pepper

Chili pepper has a high amount of different minerals and vitamins in it, including vitamin C and A. They help in building a strong immune system so it can fight of colds and other illnesses.

Chili peppers also contain a high amount of anti-oxidants and one of them is called capsaicin, which is the main active component and makes it taste hot & spicy! Capsaicin has shown to be anti-inflammatory and is able to bind to pain receptors, which makes us less sensitive to pain and therefor can provide pain relief. The spiciness also helps with a stuffed nose and makes it easier to breathe, as capsaicin has decongestant effects.

Raw Honey

Raw honey is a natural product and not the same as store bought honey, which is often pasteurized to extend shelf life. It hasn’t been treated with heat and therefor much more of the healthy nutrients are intact! Raw honey has a lot of antioxidants, is antibacterial & anti fungal, has anti-inflammatory effects and is a perfect natural remedy to soothe a sore throat.
